lifting the spirits of ill children & their families
how do we live out our mission?
- little monsters annual fun run
Preemie Prints supports families with babies born prematurely or critically ill. Our members participate in Sew & Crafts to make items for the local NICUs. This year, Starlight is organizing the Little Monsters 5K to raise money for Preemie Prints!
- story hours
Story hours is an opportunity for our members to go to various hospitals - such as Texas Children's, Shriners, MD Anderson, and McLane - and read stories, perform skits, play games, or do crafts with the kids.
Starlight coordinates a donation and toy drive every fall that benefits the local Ronald McDonald House Charities!
- camp for all
Our members volunteer at this unique, barrier-free camp, working to enrich the lives of children with challenging illnesses, diseases, or disabilities.
- boys & girls club
Boys and Girls club is an after school program in Bryan, Texas. We as members get to join the children during their after school activities.
- texas chargers retreat
Texas Chargers Retreat is an annual retreat where families touched by CHARGE syndrome are able to connect with and support one another. Our members spend the day doing fun activities with the CHARGE kids at the retreat.
- the big event
we join texas a&m university in the annual big event where we work with the community to better the community
- crafts for the hospitals
Throughout the semester, Starlight members meet to make crafts such as blankets, gift baskets, and games to donate to the hospitals. This includes Jared Boxes, which are care packages filled with toys other gifts for the kids!
